More Plates More Dates and the Guerrilla Chemist
Derek from MoreplatesMoreDates and The Guerrilla Chemist are veterans with the field of fitness and hormone replacement. Check them out when you get a chance.
This podcast allowed me to geek out on the intricacies surrounding exogenous androgen consumption. A little under 3 hours of talk time that explored a lot of the nuances in the quest to build muscle. Conversations like this one are important to educate, especially younger fitness enthusiasts before they dabble in hormone replacement. The field is riddled with ignorant people that don’t understand the complexity of molecular pathways let alone the long term effects of hormone replacement. We need to move away from clandestine conversations. We need transparency to provide education to those most at risk.
Obligatory disclaimer: I do not approve nor recommend taking exogenous androgens. This is for educational purposes only. Always consult your physician for health related matters.
TLDR:
- Myostatin supplements on the market, the majority are bunk. This is due to the high cost in manufacturing since it needs a viral vector (delivery system) which is very expensive.
- Get your house in order before considering exogenous androgens: focus on lifestyle factors i.e. sleeping, eating appropriately for your goals, hydration and getting the right stimulus to grow
- Infertility not only during use, but may also persist after stopping exogenous androgen. Huge implication for younger users.
- Depending on the length of time using exogenous androgens, restarting the body’s own hormone production may take not only time but require the help of a physician.
Hope you learned something.
